Why it matters
At Hope Lutheran Church, Vacation Bible School is more than a fun summer event. It’s one of the ways we share the love of Jesus with children and families in our community.
Through Bible stories, music, games, crafts, and hands-on activities, kids experience Christ-centered joy while building friendships in a safe, welcoming environment.
Many families take their first step into church life through VBS, and those moments often grow into lasting faith, friendships, and belonging.

VBS Highlights from Road Trip USA
What an incredible week of Vacation Bible School!
More than 500 children experienced Road Trip USA: Journey with Jesus thanks to the dedication of 140 volunteers, 13 directors, and countless behind-the-scenes helpers who gave their time, talents, and hearts to this ministry.
Together we served more than 2,500 snacks, inflated 3,635 balloons (with only 35 casualties!), built props as tall as 18 feet, and even made a few trips to the roof to keep everything in place. But the numbers only tell part of the story.
The greatest joy was watching children spend the week learning about Jesus, building friendships, singing, serving, laughing, and growing in faith.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, prayed, decorated, prepared, cleaned, and supported VBS in so many ways. God worked through each of you to make this week possible, and we are already looking forward to what He has in store for next summer.
VBS Highlights from Road Trip USA

We're excited to announce the theme for our next Hope Original Vacation Bible School:

Our VBS Team is already hard at work dreaming, writing, building, and planning another unforgettable week where children will discover that the greatest treasure isn't gold—it's the saving love of Jesus Christ.
Over the coming months we'll begin sharing sneak peeks, volunteer opportunities, behind-the-scenes updates, and registration information as we prepare for another exciting summer together.

Registration
We're already looking forward to our next Vacation Bible School!
Registration for 2027 VBS opens April 1, 2027, at 9:00 AM.
When registration opens, families will be able to register for Daytime VBS, Evening VBS, Special Needs VBS, volunteer opportunities, and volunteer childcare.
What to Expect at VBS
Theme Days
Each VBS includes fun optional theme days that help build excitement throughout the week. Themes are announced each spring and participation is always optional.

- Volunteers are not able to provide one-on-one care
- Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging experience for everyone

Volunteering
We welcome volunteers to help make VBS possible. Whether you enjoy working directly with kids or helping behind the scenes, there is a place for everyone.

Childcare is available for children under age 4 when a parent or guardian volunteers the full week. Childcare registration happens during volunteer sign-up.

At Hope Lutheran Church, we believe Vacation Bible School is about more than having fun—it's also an opportunity to put our faith into action.
Each year, VBS families partner together to support a local mission project that serves our community. Throughout the week, children learn that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference when we share God's love with others.
Whether it's collecting supplies, supporting a local ministry, or meeting a community need, our annual mission project gives every child and family the opportunity to make an impact beyond the walls of VBS.
Our 2027 Mission Project will be announced as we get closer to VBS, along with a list of requested donation items and ways your family can participate.

Volunteer Prep & Work Days
VBS starts long before the first child arrives, and we need helping hands to help bring it all together.
Volunteer Prep & Work Days are a time for our church family to gather, prepare supplies, decorate spaces, organize materials, and get everything ready for an amazing week of VBS. Whether you can help for a short time or stay for the whole work session, every bit of help makes a difference.
No special skills are needed—just a willingness to pitch in and have a little fun while we prepare for VBS.

Work Days
We love having youth help during VBS Prep & Work Days and encourage families to serve together whenever possible.
For safety reasons, some work times require youth to attend with a parent or supervising adult, while designated “Youth Drop-Off” times will include on-site supervision. During accompanied hours, Hope staff may not be available to directly supervise youth throughout the building.

Because of the generosity of our church family and community, Vacation Bible School at Hope is able to welcome hundreds of children each summer for a week filled with faith, joy, and connection.
Every craft, snack, game, decoration, and activity helps create a space where kids can hear God’s Word, build friendships, and experience the love of Jesus in a meaningful way.
There are several ways you can help make VBS possible. Whether through financial gifts, donated supplies, or simple everyday items we can reuse creatively, your generosity helps bring this week to life for more than 500 children and volunteers.
VBS Giving

Donations help provide things like craft supplies, snacks, decorations, music resources, activity materials, and more. Our estimated cost is about $30 per child, and your generosity helps ensure that every child can participate regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
