At Hope Lutheran Church, our foundation is built on the unshakable truth of God’s Word, the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and a shared mission to proclaim and live His love. What We Believe

At Hope Lutheran Church, we believe the Bible is the inspired and errorless Word of God, pointing to Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world. We are a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), and our beliefs reflect this rich, biblical tradition.

We believe in one true God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created all things and desires a relationship with His people. But through sin, humanity is separated from God and cannot restore that relationship on its own.

Out of love, God sent His Son, Jesus, true God and true man, to live perfectly, die on the cross for our sins, and rise again, offering forgiveness and eternal life. Salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus—not by our works, but as a gift from God through the Holy Spirit.

We receive God’s grace through His Word, Baptism, and Holy Communion. These Means of Grace strengthen our faith and connect us to Jesus.

We believe Jesus will return one day to raise the dead and bring eternal life to all believers. Until then, we are called to worship, serve, and share the Good News of Jesus with others.

Rooted in Faith. Growing in Hope. Serving with Love.

Founded in 1996, Hope Lutheran Church has been a faithful presence in the Wake Forest community, dedicated to proclaiming and living the Word and love of Christ. From humble beginnings to a thriving congregation today, Hope’s story reflects God’s blessings, the strength of community, and a growing commitment to ministry.

Our Beginnings

Hope Lutheran Church began with a vision to serve the fast-growing town of Wake Forest. Guided by the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), a small group of believers gathered to form a Christ-centered congregation.

Early worship services were held in temporary spaces before the church established a permanent home. In 1997, Hope expanded its ministry to families with the opening of Hope Lutheran Preschool, providing Christ-centered early childhood education and laying a strong foundation for children and families within the church community.

Our Growth

As Wake Forest grew, so did Hope. The church became known for its welcoming spirit and strong Biblical teaching, expanding ministries to serve all ages, including children, youth, and adults through worship, education, and outreach.

Hope’s ministries grew to include Children’s and Youth programs, Little Blessings weekday childcare, the Xplore Track-Out Camp, music and worship arts, faith education, and local and global mission outreach.

In 2003, Hope relocated from South Main Street to a new campus in Heritage. Continued growth led to a major expansion in 2010, including a new sanctuary, youth center, classrooms, and expanded ministry space to support a growing congregation and Preschool ministry.

Our Present

Today, Hope is home to over a thousand members and remains a place where faith is nurtured, relationships are built, and lives are shaped by Christ’s love. With dedicated staff, volunteers, and leadership, Hope continues to live out its mission:

“The people of Hope Lutheran Church proclaim and live the Word and love of Christ.”

Hope's Mission

The people of Hope Lutheran Church proclaim and live the Word and love of Christ.

This mission shapes everything we do at Hope. It’s not just a statement—it’s a way of life rooted in Scripture and lived out in our worship, relationships, and service to others.

At Hope, we are committed to:

Family

We believe the church is an extension of the family—where people of all ages grow in faith, support one another, and walk through life together. From children's ministry to adult discipleship, we work to strengthen families in Christ-centered love and guidance.

Welcome

Everyone who walks through our doors is met with warmth, hospitality, and grace. Whether you're a lifelong believer or just beginning to explore faith, you’ll find a place to belong at Hope.

Outreach Ministry

We don’t just keep the Gospel inside our walls. Hope actively serves our community and world through acts of compassion, partnerships, and sharing the message of Jesus with those in need.

Word & Sacrament

Our faith is anchored in God’s Word and the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. These are the heart of our worship and the source of strength for daily life. Everything we do flows from the gifts God gives us through His grace.

We invite you to join us as we live out this mission together—growing in faith, loving our neighbors, and proclaiming the hope we have in Christ.

Called to More

At Hope Lutheran Church, we are always prayerfully looking for ways to better serve our members and our wider community. Our vision is rooted in listening, discernment, and faithful stewardship—seeking opportunities that strengthen ministry, deepen care, and expand outreach. While exploring new ideas does not guarantee they will move forward, we carefully consider each possibility based on need, resources, volunteers, staffing, and available space. Even so, we remain committed to asking, “How can we love and serve better?”

Some of the areas we are currently exploring include:

  • Exploring School & Education Opportunities
  • Livestreaming & Technology Updates
  • Staffing Needs to Support Growing Ministry
  • Care Ministry Opportunities
  • Outreach Opportunities
  • And more as needs and opportunities arise

As God leads, we continue to trust, discern, and move forward together—always guided by our mission of building relationships in Christ now and forever.

Holy Communion

Holy Communion is a central part of our worship life at Hope, where God comes to us with His grace in a tangible and meaningful way. We celebrate this gift at every weekend worship service as we gather together in faith.

If you have questions about Holy Communion, your faith journey, or preparing to receive the sacrament, we invite you to connect with one of our pastors.

What We Believe

We believe that in Holy Communion, Jesus is truly present with His body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine.

Through this gift, God offers the forgiveness of sins, strengthens our faith, and draws us closer to Him and to one another.

Receiving Communion

As we come to the Lord’s Table, we are invited to come with faith in Jesus and an understanding of His presence in this sacrament.

Scripture encourages us to examine ourselves before receiving the bread and the cup (1 Corinthians 11:28). Those who receive Communion are encouraged to be baptized and to share this confession of faith.

Children & First Communion

First Communion is typically offered to youth following instruction and confirmation. Children and those not yet receiving Communion are always welcome to come forward to receive a blessing.

More About First Communion

Faith in Every Season

Our beliefs are not just statements we affirm — they are the foundation we build our lives upon. From the very beginning to the final farewell, faith in Christ shapes how we see ourselves, how we love others, and how we walk through every season of life.

At Hope, we believe that what we confess on Sunday is meant to carry us through Monday and every day after. God’s promises are not abstract ideas; they are anchors in joyful beginnings, steady strength in growing years, guidance in lifelong commitments, and comfort in times of grief.

The Life Moments within the Church — Baptism, Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, and Christian funerals — are not isolated events. They are sacred milestones rooted in Scripture and grounded in the unchanging love of Christ. In these moments, faith becomes visible. Promises are spoken. Hope is proclaimed. And the Church gathers around one another in support and prayer.

Faith is not something we simply learn

— it is something we live, together.
