Membership

The people of Hope Lutheran Church proclaim and
live the Word and love of Christ.

At Hope, membership is about more than a name on a list — it’s about finding a place to belong. Church is not just somewhere you attend; it’s a community where you are known, where faith is nurtured, and where we walk together in the Word and love of Christ.

Whether you are new, exploring, or have been worshipping with us for a while, you are welcome here. You can worship, grow, serve, and be a part of life at Hope at any point along your journey. Membership is simply a step in calling Hope home — a way of saying, “This is where I belong.”

On this page, you’ll find what membership means at Hope, how to take the next step when you’re ready, and the many ways you can be part of our church family along the way.

Part of Hope

Home Begins with Christ

The Church is more than a building or an organization — it is the people of God gathered around His Word and promises.

Through Baptism, we are joined to Christ and welcomed into His Church. Our true home begins with Him.

At Hope, calling this church “home” means growing in faith together. We gather week after week to hear God’s Word, receive His gifts, and be reminded of who we are in Christ.

Home is where we are rooted in His grace and strengthened for daily life.

Walking Together in Faith

Calling Hope home also means walking together in a shared faith.

As a Lutheran congregation, we worship in a Christ-centered tradition passed down through generations.

Our unity allows us to teach clearly, worship confidently, and serve faithfully.

We know questions are part of every faith journey. If you’d like to explore more about what we believe and teach, we invite you to visit our What We Believe page or talk with one of our pastors. We are always glad to have those conversations.

What We Believe

A Place to Be Known

Home is where you are known, prayed for, and cared for.

It is where joys are celebrated and burdens are shared.

At Hope, membership is not about paperwork — it is about walking through life together as brothers and sisters in Christ.

To call Hope home means being part of a community that proclaims and lives the Word and love of Christ — in worship, in service, and in everyday life.

Joining Hope — When You’re Ready

Becoming a member of Hope begins with a New Member Class.

New Member classes are offered twice each year during the Sunday School hour and are led by Pastor Devin and ministry staff. Together, we walk through what we believe, how we worship, and what it means to live as part of the Hope family.  There is space to ask questions, share your story, and learn more about our life together.

When you feel ready, the class is simply the next step in calling Hope home.

If you are not quite there yet, that’s okay.

You are welcome to worship, attend events, join small groups, and serve alongside others as you continue to explore and grow. Home often begins long before paperwork.

Congregational Governance & Documents

Hope Lutheran Church is a congregation of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). As a self-governing congregation, we operate according to our Constitution and Bylaws, which outline our structure, leadership, and responsibilities.

Members are encouraged to review these documents to better understand how we function as a church family.

Please contact the church office for current documents.

Transferring Membership

If you are transferring your membership from Hope to another congregation, we are happy to send a letter of transfer upon request. In some cases, the receiving church may reach out to us directly for additional information, and we will respond as needed to assist with the process.

If you are joining Hope from another Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) congregation or another Christian church, we are glad you are here. If a formal transfer is needed, that information will be gathered during the New Member Class and handled for you.
