Music Ministry at Hope
At Hope, music is one of the many ways we worship, serve, and grow together. Whether singing, ringing, or playing an instrument, music brings people of all ages together to glorify God and encourage one another in faith.
You don’t need to be a professional musician to participate—just a willingness to learn, serve, and be part of a joyful and welcoming community.
There are opportunities for both children and adults to get involved.
“Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!”
– Proverbs 31:25
Adult Music Groups
Our adult music groups are open to high school students and adults. High school musicians are often ready for the level of responsibility, musical independence, and rehearsal commitment that these groups involve, and many find it to be a meaningful way to stay connected and serve in worship.
These groups help lead worship regularly and play an important role in the musical life of the congregation.
Choir
Adult Choir is a welcoming group of singers who help lead worship throughout most of the year, singing at most Sunday services outside of the summer season. The choir presents music that reflects the message and season of the church year, helping prepare hearts for Scripture and the sermon.
The choir sings a variety of sacred music that deepens worship and invites the congregation into moments of reflection, celebration, and praise.
Adult Choir also serves as one of the primary ensembles in our annual Christmas Cantata, often joined by instrumentalists and supported by other music groups.
While choir music can sound rich and complex, singers of all experience levels are welcome, and members learn together in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Handbells
Hope’s Handbell Choirs are made up of 4½ octaves of Malmark English Handbells and 5 octaves of Choir Hand Chimes.
Adult Handbells is an opportunity to participate in the tradition of musical worship through the distinctive voice of handbells and handchimes. Ringers work together to present music that enhances worship and supports congregational singing.
Although handbells may appear intricate, new ringers quickly find that learning happens step by step. No prior experience is necessary, and the group is welcoming and patient as new members learn.
The Adult Handbell Choir plays periodically in Sunday services and participates in special services throughout the year, adding a rich and resonant sound that complements both choir and congregational singing.
Instrumental
Instrumentalists who play band or orchestral instruments are invited to share their musical gifts in worship. Throughout the year, musicians have opportunities to accompany the Adult Choir, participate in special music, and contribute to seasonal and festive services.
In worship, instrumentalists often support choral pieces or provide additional musical depth that enhances the message of the service. Their contributions add richness and variety, helping create meaningful moments of reflection and praise.
Instrumentalists are also an important part of our annual Christmas Cantata, where they often perform alongside the Adult Choir as primary performers, with Kid’s Choir, handbells, and other musicians assisting.
Whether you have years of experience or are simply looking for a way to use your musical gifts, there is a place for you to serve and be part of worship through music.
Praise Team
The Praise Team leads music in all Saturday night worship services, guiding the congregation in contemporary worship through a variety of musical styles.
Rather than performing for the congregation, the team helps lead worship—encouraging participation, setting the tone for the service, and supporting the message of the day through music.
Vocalists and instrumentalists work together each week to create an atmosphere that invites the congregation to sing, reflect, and pray together.
Kids & Youth Music Groups
Our Kids & Youth music groups are designed for elementary and middle school students. These years are a wonderful time to begin learning musical skills such as reading music, listening within an ensemble, and developing the focus and teamwork that group music requires.
Minimum ages are based on when most children are generally ready to begin learning these skills in a positive and encouraging environment. Students grow at their own pace, and our goal is always to help them build confidence and joy in music.
Choir
Kindergarten - Middle School
Kid’s Choir is a joyful and encouraging place where children and youth learn to use their voices and grow in confidence as they share their faith through music. Singers are introduced to basic music reading, vocal skills, and ensemble singing in a way that is engaging and age-appropriate.
In worship, Kid’s Choir sings periodically in Sunday services, offering anthems or helping lead music that connects with the theme of the day.
Their participation is a meaningful reminder to the congregation that children and youth are an important part of the life and worship of the church today.
Their participation is a meaningful reminder to the congregation that children and youth are an important part of the life and worship of the church today.
Kid’s Choir also participates in seasonal services, joining other music groups to help tell the story of Christ through music in ways that are memorable and meaningful for the whole congregation.
Handbells
Kindergarten - Middle School
Kids & Youth Handbells introduces young musicians to the art of handbell ringing, a unique and beautiful form of musical worship. Beginning in 2nd grade, students are typically ready to start learning the coordination, music reading, and listening skills that handbell ringing requires.
At first, handbells can look complicated, but new ringers quickly learn that everything is taught step by step. No prior musical experience is required, and students are guided patiently as they grow in confidence and skill.

In worship, the handbell choir offers music that complements the theme of the service and creates moments of reflection, prayer, and praise. They play periodically in Sunday services and assist in special seasonal worship alongside other music ministries.
Seasonal Music in Worship
The Christmas Cantata
Each year in December, Hope’s Music Ministry presents the Christmas Cantata, a special worship service centered on the story of Christ’s birth. The Adult Choir and instrumentalists serve as the primary performers, supported by Kid’s Choir, handbells, and other musicians.
The Cantata is a meaningful and moving service that brings together music, Scripture, and worship in a way that helps prepare hearts for Christmas. It is a highlight of the church year for both musicians and the congregation.
We warmly encourage everyone to come and experience this beautiful service, whether as a participant or as a member of the congregation.
