Rob Varner

Director of Worship Arts

Rob Varner serves as Director of Worship Arts at Hope Lutheran Church, where he leads and shapes the music ministry with passion, creativity, and deep faith. With over 30 years of experience as a church musician, Rob has served congregations across the Midwest and East Coast and has been an active part of the Hope community for more than a decade. He directs Hope’s adult choir—now over 60 voices strong—and works closely with the pastoral team to create meaningful, engaging worship experiences rooted in Scripture and song.

Rob holds degrees with honors in Sacred Music, Organ, Choral Conducting, Music Education, and Funeral Directing. As a seasoned educator, he spent 27 years teaching music in public and private schools and has conducted choirs that have performed at the White House, the National Cathedral, and alongside members of renowned orchestras. He is also a composer, arranger, accompanist, and clinician for choral festivals.

Outside of music, Rob enjoys cooking for friends and family—especially his signature triple chocolate mocha cheesecake—and sharing good conversation over a favorite bottle of wine.

Rob is inspired by Colossians 3:16–17 and believes worship is at its best when the Word of Christ dwells richly among God’s people—through song, Scripture, and shared praise.
