Rev. Mike Lutz

Assistant to the Pastor

Rev. Mike Lutz serves as Assistant Pastor at Hope Lutheran Church, where he supports the pastoral team with preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and spiritual leadership. Pastor Mike brings more than five decades of ministry experience and a heart for service both in the church and in the community. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis in 1972 and has faithfully served congregations across the country. His previous calls include Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper, MN (1972–1976), St. John Lutheran Church in Northbrook, IL (1976–1984), and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Macomb, MI (1984–2022).



Throughout his ministry, Pastor Mike has held numerous leadership roles in the LCMS, including Circuit Counselor, District Evangelism Chair, and mentor for the Synod’s PALS program. He has also served on various task forces, extension boards, and community advisory committees. Pastor Mike and his wife, Liz, live in Youngsville, NC, and are active members of the Hope community. They are blessed with four grown children and twelve grandchildren—many of whom live nearby. Together, they enjoy traveling, especially exploring new cultures and countries.


Pastor Mike has a passion for walking with others in their faith and believes deeply in the lifelong call to share the Gospel through word, presence, and servant leadership.
