Adult Education Opportunities

Sunday Morning 9:45-10:45 AM

  • January 2: The Mysterious Magi. “We Three Kings of Orient are. …” So the familiar Christmas carol begins. But already it has made three mistakes in the first line! We don’t know that the Magi were three in number, they were not kings, and they did not come from as far away as the Orient, that is, the Far East. The New Testament calls them simply “magi from the East.” Who were these mysterious men and why would their visit of the newborn Christ become significant to later Christianity? This class is in room 301 on the Adult Education floor and is led by Luke Tew.
  • January 9 - 30: Redeeming Technology. 4,105 hours per year. That’s the average amount of time an American spends with technology. With a bit of math, that’s 45% of your year spent in front of a screen. Have you considered how all that time is affecting both your spiritual and physical well-being? Based on a book by the pastor-psychiatrist team of Rev. A. Trevor Sutton and Dr. Brian Smith, the class will explore the balance between using technology in this digital age and staying focused on Christ. This class is in room 301 on the Adult Education floor and is led by Pastor Lew.

Wednesday Night Alive 6:30-7:30 PM

  • January 5 - February 23: Daniel. With visions, unusual number imagery, and an interest in end-times events, the reader should beware of over interpreting the symbolism of Daniel’s prophecies. Instead, we cling to the general message: God reigns, and he works to deliver his people from evil, especially in the gift of Christ. Join the discussion as we work our way through the entire book! This is led by Pastor Lew & Vicar James on the Adult Education floor, room 301 Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30PM.
