The Rev. Preston E. Wagner accepted the call to serve as Mission Developer for the Wake Forest Lutheran Mission in October, 1996 and continues to serve at the Senior Pastor of Hope Lutheran Church. Pastor Wagner is a native of Hopewell, Virginia, graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1968 with a B.S. in Education, and received a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in 1972. He has previously served as pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Freedom, PA. (1972-1974); Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Ashland, VA. (1975-1978) and Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Asheville, NC (1972-1991). From 1991 to 1996, Pastor Wagner served as Mission & Ministry Executive for the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, in Alexandria, VA. His life mission is to “provide positive and effective leadership to God’s people in times of challenge and change.” Pastor Wagner and his wife Lana reside in Wake Forest. They have two children, a daughter Michelle, who resides in Crofton, Maryland and son Mark and wife Tonya, and their children, Jonathan and Megan, who reside in Pinehurst, NC
