North Carolina winters are full of ups and downs! We all know it. As I write this today, it’s 28o and windy. The forecasters are saying that within a few days the temperature will hit 70o. Our winter weather sure does bounce around, doesn’t it?
Our lives in this world are full of ups and downs, too. We all know it. The highs and lows of life are part of the universal human experience. We all have our share of joys and celebrations, but we all have to endure plenty of struggles, heartaches, and griefs, as well. Our weekly prayer list at Hope is a vivid reminder for me. The people sitting in the pews next to you week by week are thankful for many blessings, and their hymns of praise are heartfelt; but, keep in mind, many of those same people are quietly suffering sorrows and afflictions. The Christian life knows plenty of ups and downs, doesn’t it?
Our eternal, faithful, loving God knows no ups and downs. Do you know that to be true? God is the one constant in our existence. He is always just, ever righteous. His love for sinful people like us doesn’t wane. His care for the hurting and the lost never fades. God’s promises and assurances do not waver. His provision for our eternal needs is complete and unquestionable, thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
As you journey through life’s ups and downs, let God be your daily touchstone, your constant rock, your unshakeable fortress, your immoveable anchor. Keep his Word close, as the world shuffles you around. Be faithful and regular in your worship life, and allow his grace and power to be a constant presence in your life. Navigate all of your ups and downs with your eternal, faithful God!
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
Yours in Christ,
