Local Missions

A Complete List of Hope's Many Local Missions

As part of Hope Lutheran’s commitment to serving the Wake Forest community, Hope has adopted Forestville Road, between Rogers Road and Burlington Mills Road. Four times per year a clean-up day is organized, and volunteers spend time picking up trash that has accumulated on the sides of Forestville Road.  Watch the bulletins and newsletters for Adopt-A-Highway clean-up events, or contact Jeff Vukovich or Andrew DiGiovanni for more information. The next event is Saturday, March 13 at 9AM, please contact a leader to let them know you're coming.

Angel Tree

Every December, Hope Lutheran Church adopts 15-20 families in need in the Wake Forest area. Gift and food donations are delivered to these families the 2 weeks before Christmas. Early in the month, a Christmas tree is set up in the church Narthex, and paper angels, with individual family needs written on them, adorn the tree. All are welcome to help share the love of Christ in the season of giving!

Brown Bag Ministry

Hope’s Brown Bag Ministry distributes 225 lunches to three communities in the downtown Wake Forest area two Saturdays a month. Volunteers gather to assemble and distribute nutritious lunches from donated and purchased food. A Bible verse is included for spiritual nourishment. Want to get involved? Visitors are always welcomed to volunteer with Brown Bag Ministry. The first Saturday of each month is reserved for groups of 8-12 people who wish to serve together, such as Girl/Boy Scouts, Youth Groups, or Small Groups. The third Saturday of each month is open to any individuals or families who wish to be part of this ministry. For further information, please contact Nancy Repak at 919-279-3801, or Debbie Irgens at 919- 373-9181. A special thank you to Texas Roadhouse for supplying all of the yummy rolls!! Area churches, including Hope Lutheran, have banded together to create an organization that provides financial assistance with utility bills to those in need in the Wake Forest, Youngsville, and Rolesville areas. Gleaning is the act of collecting crops from farmers' fields after they have been harvested then donating to people who cannot afford fresh fruit and vegetables. This ministry is open to new volunteers, no experience is needed!!  To be notified when a gleaning opportunity becomes available, contact Amy Elder at 919-554-8109.

Habitat for Humanity

Hope Lutheran Church is an active partner with Wake County's Habitat for Humanity organization. This ministry offers free clothing and housewares a few times during the year, with all items donated by the people of Hope. Items go directly to people who need them most in Wake Forest and surrounding communities. Any remaining clothing is then donated to different organizations around the Wake Forest area that are also in need. If you would like to participate in this wonderful ministry at Hope, contact Hope Chest Coordinators Mary Jo Isom ( ) or Martha Haun ( ). The next event is scheduled for September 11. Hope Friends

Volunteers who love to spend time talking, listening, and providing friendship will enjoy this ministry. Our Hope Friends volunteers make visits to people in area nursing homes who are unable to come to church. Contact Lois Nielsen for more information about helping out.

Live Nativity

This inspiring outdoor production will take you back in time to experience the first Christmas. A long-standing tradition at Hope, the Live Nativity features live animals (and live people, too), professionally-crafted scenery, and seasonal music to provide a memorable encounter with the Babe of Bethlehem. Come and be part of the Christmas story!  Admission is free and snacks are served.

Recycling Paper

Members of our congregation are concerned with caring for the environment, and we try to do our part to take care of God’s beautiful creation. Here at Hope, we recycle our paper and weekend bulletins.

Re-Gifting with Love

Donated gift items will be given to low-income students at local schools who want to give their parents/loved ones Christmas gifts. Maybe you have an item or two, gathering dust in your attic, which you received last year at Christmas. Here’s your chance to re-gift those items, and put them to good use! The Service/Outreach Team will collect donated items in November of each year.

Night To Shine

Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, is a wonderful prom event that celebrates God’s love for people with special needs.  Worldwide, there were 15,000 volunteers and 7,000 honored guests joining together to celebrate.  WOW! Hope Lutheran will be a host site again, and plans have already begun!  Volunteers are needed to host guests, work a station, and set-up and/or clean-up. Learn More

School Supplies

Want to make an investment in the future of our community in Wake Forest? In an effort to help out families who are struggling to make ends meet, each summer our congregation gathers school supplies to help Heritage Middle School & Rolesville Middle School students prepare for the new school year. Items needed: single-subject spiral notebooks, composition books (single & 3 subject), 3 ring binders (2 in), college-lined paper, note cards, index dividers, highlighters, pens/pencils, pocket folders, and cinch sacks (for backpack buddies). Please drop off your donated items in the collection bin in the cafe in July.

Touched By Hope

The New Testament Gospels are filled with stories of Jesus bringing God’s healing touch to people in need. Here at Hope, Touched By Hope is a free medical clinic held annually in the fall.  The primary purpose of this ministry is to meet human needs in Christ’s name. This is done by providing a wide range of services which strive to meet the medical, physical, and spiritual needs of the guests. Services range from medical, dental, and optical care to haircuts and free clothing. All services are provided free of charge.  Volunteers are gathered from Hope Lutheran Church and the community to provide services for our guests. The fall 2021 event has been postponed.

Tri-Area Ministry

This wonderful organization serves families that live in Wake County and Youngsville. The ministry allows registered families to come in once a month to pick up a bag stuffed with groceries for no charge. Nearly 200 families go to the ministry each week. A collection bin is available in the Cafe' area at Hope, and you are welcome to donate at any time to this blessed ministry. Questions about this ministry? Contact Jill Schaefer at .
