A Parting Word from Pastor Wagner

Dear Friends in Christ,

No doubt, I will experience many mixed emotions in these coming weeks as my ministry as your pastor comes to a close. There’s a tension in the “Invitation to Retirement Events” and the announcement of a “Call Service for a New Senior Pastor!” Yet, in both, God’s plan is unfolding, for me and for this beloved church.

There’s no simple or profound way for Lana and me to express our thanks and appreciation for this wonderful journey together, so let me turn to Holy Scripture, echoing the Apostle’s words:

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work will bring it to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 1:3-6)

There will be more to say and share during all of the special events and in my closing sermons, but for now, just let me say “thank you” for Hope’s commitment “to proclaim and live the Word and love of Christ.” You have fulfilled that mission in our lives and what a blessing it has been for me and Lana!

I call you to faithfulness in worship and commitment in this important time of change and transition. Please continue to lift up the call process and keep all the senior pastor candidates in your prayers. Make sure you provide a positive voice through your participation and presence in the upcoming congregational meetings and Call Service.
