    Staffing Update, May 2017

Hope Lutheran is happy to announce two DCE Interns, Steven McCarthy and Wesley Spottiswood, will be serving at Hope in the year ahead.

Steven McCarthy is graduating from Concordia University Irvine with his Bachelor of Arts Degree. His major was Christian Education Leadership (DCE Program) with a minor in Global Cultural Studies. Steven grew up in a small town outside of Vancouver, Washington. Steven will head up the 5-6 Grade Youth Group, and work closely with the Youth Confirmation Program.

Wesley Spottiswood is graduating from Concordia University Irvine and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree. His major was Christian Education Leadership (DCE Program) with a minor in Missiology. Wesley was born in Los Angeles, California. Wesley will take the lead with the 7-8 Grade and 9-12 Grade Youth Groups.

Additionally, both interns will be involved, together or separately, in several other congregational mission and ministry areas: Hope’s community-based outreach ministries, our small group ministry program, men’s ministry, family service worship planning, hospital/home visits, adult education classes, visitor follow-up, formation of a young adult outreach, congregational/regional disaster response efforts, and the development of a spiritual care program in Lumberton. We have a very busy, exciting year planned for Steven and Wesley!

We are expecting our team of interns to arrive in Wake Forest in early June. Please pray for Steven and Wesley, and for all the areas of congregational ministry in which they will be serving – especially our Youth Ministry Program. May God work in mighty and creative ways to help our church keep moving forward!
